There are a huge number of cities in Poland that are still unventured and unpopular for tourists, yet they should be. Many of these towns and cities are regional capitals such as Zielona Góra (Lubuskie), Rzeszów (Podkarpackie), Starogard Gdański (Kociewie) and Olsztyn (Masury). Another sparklìng gem is Opole, which is also the capital city of Opole Vovoideship. I made a habit of backpacking through obscure global towns and cities back in the day. These days, I converted the niche to Poland only, in the wake of deep depression.
Some of these cool cities that sit under the tourist radar are sleeping giants waiting for their time to come. When that day arrives, Opole will have its time to shine and will deserve it. It is well prepared for this overdue enhancement in tourism, boasting a range of good bars and some curious sights. To rest your head downtown Opole, choose the Event Hostel. It is bang in the middle of the city and a perfect hostel. Here are just 5 reasons why I loved it.
1.Cosy, tight design
With a colourful front, murals and interesting wall art, Event Hostel is one of the more quirky hostels in Poland. The photos should show this pleasant decor which gives the hostel a very friendly and homely feel to it.
2.Free WiFi on all Three Floors
WiFi is fast and consistent at Event Hostel. I was in a dorm room on the top / third floor and could blog from my bed. A novelty not present in every hostel I stayed in.
3.Clean and tidy
One thing that stands out about the Event Hostel in Opole is how clean and tidy it is, from the dorms to the bathrooms to the bookcases.
4.Central Location
The location of Event Hostel is hard to beat. It is a mere two minutes walk from the prominent Ratusz (Town Hall) and main square. It is also within ten minutes walk of almost every decent bar, pub, restaurant and club around.
5.Sociable and Fun
Event Hostel is sociable and Fun. Each dorm has its own name and style. There are some cool extras like a tiny corner “mini kitchen ” , an old games machine and a blackboard to sign. You can make new friends here easily.
So please don’t skip cities like Opole. Part of my reason for starting this blog was to show the Poland that commercial tourist sites neglect. Get away from Kraków, Wrocław, Warszawa and Poznań and enjoy places like Opole. Besides Opole is situated half way between Wrocław and Kraków so is a great stopover anyway.

Really like how you make publicity for less visited and underrated places in Poland, like Opole and others. If ever you go back to that part of Poland go see Nysa it lays to the south of Opole.
Hi Pol, thanks for the comment. I am glad you liked it. It is a shame we couldn’t meet when I was in Opole. Next time you are in Poland, give me an advance morning as I move about a lot within the country. Safe travels. Jonny
