“It’s never too late to make a brand new start” – Paul Weller.
Uwaga! (in English) Seriously. I am really bad at learning languages and now into my fourth year living in Poland and yet my Polish language skills are still very low. It’s not like I haven’t tried to learn! Look at the facts –
– I had over 150 Polish lessons (July 2016 – January 2020)
– I spent over £2,000 on lessons and learning (10,000 zlotych)
– I spent over £2,000 on lessons and learning (10,000 zlotych)
– I read 5 Polish textbooks (2017-2020).
– I attended two Polish language schools (Learn Polish in Gdansk and KLUB DIALOGU-POLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL FOR FOREIGNERS).
– When I go to shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, I speak only in Poland to the staff.
So for all of September, I will be writing and speaking ONLY Polish with my Polish friends. The blog, will continue in mostly NI English. My work conintues to be writing, teaching, blogging and social media (and 95% of my work is in English)
Of course, I am not strong at languages, but at least Polish is my second best language now.
Notes –
– I spent 4 years in Hong Kong and cannot speak or read any Chinese. (I studied it for 3 months).
– I have spent over 18 months in Spanish speaking countries and cannot speak or read much Spanish. (I studied it for a month).
– I have spent over 12 months in French speaking countries and cannot speak or read much French. (I studied it for 5 years).
– I have spent over 6 months in German speaking countries and cannot speak or read much German. (I studied it for 5 years).

Great idea! Good luck 🙂
Hi Alex, Thanks for the comments. Well I hope to improve, sadly languages are never my strong point, but at least Polish is my second best language. I still don’t speak my native Gaelic or Ulster Scots, one day maybe! Stay safe. Jonny
