My return to the gaping Polish capital city of Warsaw in December 2016 saw me reunited with one of my most visited cities (visit number 6 and counting) and with a stay in one of my favourite hotel brands from recent years – Ibis. I booked into the Ibis Warszawa Centrum. I know what to expect with my Ibis Hotels these days – I love how the brand is consistent in each and every hotel so for the Northern Irishman in Poland, this was a fantastic hotel option on my return to the capital.
Before this, in the summer of 2016, I also stayed at the brand new Ibis Gdansk (Poland) and the Ibis Kaliningrad City (Russia), each time enjoying the luxury and comfort of my room as I travelled through cities to inspire my journey once again. This was Warsaw’s turn to shine, or to snow as a gorgeous sky spilt itself onto me as I backpacked my way through the city yet again trying to fathom the answers to the questions haunting my mind.
The Hotel Ibis Warszawa Centrum is located in the center of the city, not far from the Old Town and Warsaw’s business district. The hotel is just 2 miles (3 km) from the Palace of Culture and Science, yes the famous building given to Poland as a gift of Stalin, inspiring the song “You Have Your Life (Warszawa Skies)”.
The location of this Ibis Hotel ensures an easy journey to the Central Station and Chopin airport, plus you are on the main road here Solidarnosci so you can walk into the Old Town straight from here. The hotel has 189 comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, 6 conference rooms, a restaurant, a bar and an underground car park (charges apply).
Business guests will appreciate the wireless internet access, which was available all over the building. Here are my five favourite things about my stay here.
1.Smiling Staff
I was welcomed by Monika and the usually smiling Ibis staff. On the second day, there was a “Santa Day” as it was the day that Warsaw was putting up its Christmas Lights. There was some festive cheer and free chocolate Santas!
2.Consistent Ibis Layout
I mentioned that I have stayed at Ibis Hotels quite a few times on my journey, which included in the Middle East in Kuwait and Bahrain. I love the consistent layout. There is nothing over the top or fancy – hotels are cloned and branded in a set way to look like brothers. Even the rooms reflect this.
3.Breakfast Buffet
Ibis is a perfect hotel for a business traveller – the reason being the breakfast serving times are normally huge. Here, there is breakfast available from 6 am until 12 noon. This is perfect as you can have your breakfast early morning, and even have a mid morning coffee after that. Here are some photos of my breakfast.
4.Comfortable Rooms
I was in Room 503 on the 5th floor. It felt almost identical to the previous Ibis Hotels I had stayed in and I loved this.
A comfy bed, a good desk and a clean bathroom to stay fresh in. I also ate a hearty burger and salad here, with a fresh lemon juice.
5.WiFi and Internet Use
For business travellers, WiFi and Internet Use are highly important these days. The Ibis has good WiFi in every room, all over the building and it also has two computers for fast connection on the ground floor.
